1

The Challenge

A general contractor engaged Tritech to provide a compliant fall protection solution for workers accessing rail loading areas at an industrial facility in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. The site presented specific structural constraints: the system had to integrate with existing support steel above active rail operations, leaving no room for guesswork in design or fit.

A horizontal lifeline (HLL) was the defined requirement. The client needed a turnkey solution — from design and engineering through to professional installation — with no additional contractors involved. Tritech recommended an engineered HLL system, which was accepted without challenge based on the strength of the working relationship and Tritech’s track record on prior projects.

The Engineered Solution

Tritech designed three custom-engineered HLL systems to the exact dimensions of the facility’s existing support steel. Rather than adapting a standard product to an imperfect fit, each system was specified to integrate precisely with the structural steel in place — eliminating field modifications, reducing installation time, and ensuring a fully compliant result from day one.

Scope of Work

Supply and installation of three (3) engineered Horizontal Lifeline (HLL) systems over rail loading areas. Systems were custom-designed to fit existing structural steel. Installation was completed by manufacturer-trained Tritech technicians. Installed February 2026.

The completed installation provides workers with a fully compliant, engineered HLL system across all three rail loading access areas. Personnel can now safely access elevated work zones with confidence in a system that was purpose-built for the structure — not adapted from a generic product. The turnkey delivery meant no additional contractors, no coordination overhead, and a direct path from drawing approval to first use.

Outcome Detail
Fall Protection Three engineered HLL systems providing continuous fall protection coverage across all rail loading access areas
Compliance Fully engineered and certified HLL system meeting all applicable regulatory requirements for elevated work over rail
Custom Fit Systems designed to exact dimensions of existing structural steel — no site modifications or field adaptation required
Turnkey Delivery Single point of contact from design through installation — drawing approval to operational system with no third-party contractors
Professional Installation Installed by manufacturer-trained Tritech technicians, ensuring system integrity and a clean handover to the end user

The Tritech Advantage

This project demonstrates what Tritech does best: taking a defined requirement, engineering the right solution, and delivering it end-to-end without burdening the client. By designing the HLL systems to fit the existing structure precisely, Tritech eliminated installation risk and ensured a compliant result the first time. A long-standing relationship and clear communication meant the client could move from project award to a ready-to-use system with minimal involvement on their end.
